Biography

Kristin Washington was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. She graduated from Swarthmore College with a BA in Psychology.

She has been a member of the Redlands community for 12 years, spending much of that time advocating on behalf of families on issues that impact their daily lives.

Since 2015, Kristin has served as president of a non-profit organization that educates community members on local, state and national legislative issues. She is a frequent voice for the community’s support for and opposition to issues.

Employed by the not-for-profit Medi-Cal and Medicare health plan, Inland Empire Health Plan (IEHP), Kristin was instrumental in helping families navigate the Affordable Care Act’s enrollment and eligibility process during the healthcare law’s initial years. Thousands of low-income families throughout the Inland Empire gained access to healthcare due to her work.

Currently Kristin leads a team of Process Improvement Specialists for IEHP, focusing on improving the organization’s delivery of service.

EDUCATION

BULLYING

We need to pay more attention to the toll bullying is having on our kids. Bullying and cyberbullying can leave students feeling alone and unwanted. Schools need the resources to identify the warning signs and the training to address the problem.

EDUCATION

ACHIEVEMENT GAP

There should be such equity in our schools that every child in every neighborhood has great schools to attend. Redlands USD should identify and eliminate any performance gaps, especially those based on race, learning ability or gender

EDUCATION

SAFE & SUPPORTIVE...

Our kids deserve high-quality schools where the adults know the warning signs for inappropriate sexual behavior and those adults hold accountable anyone who preys on our kids.
